Live performance
Embodiment, community, voices, layers, gathering, improvise, collaborative
July 2022
What would it feel like if people gathered together, sharing their voices?
I am interested in working with others (always compensating them in some way for their work – in this case offering an honorarium). I am interested in voices coming together. I am interested in the way bodies can lead audiences. I am interested in blurring the line between performer and audience. I am interested in allowing for freedom within some set parameters. I am interested in sounds made by the human body, and for the experimental and improvised ways these sounds can be created. I am interested in what it means to be here.
Participants included Jordyn Bochon, Linda MacIsaac, Jenny Trites, Linda Meian, Trisha Dhar Malik, Kallie White, Megan Johnson, Leah Pritchard, Marcus Wong, Bonnie Archibald-Awalt, Ivy Charles, Sara Graham, Brittany Kamras, Erin Gaudet, Alan Slipp, and Jacob Caines. I believe in giving credit to participant-collaborators and not taking them for granted, and not erasing their labour or taking credit for the work they have done.
