Water, swimming, land, place, site, embodiment, journey, ephemeral
July 2022
What will it feel like if I swim along the shore of a tannin-rich lake, alone?

Warm, dark, safe, mysterious. Red water blue sky. Breath and freshwater, sweat and saltwater. Bobbing and kicking, reaching and floating. Minnows and plantlife hidden below me, wisps of clouds clear overhead. In the distance I can sometimes hear them laughing. Am I behind them, or ahead? Will I recognize the place where I left my clothing and shoes? Will I drown? Will I keep going? Will the water always hold me?
